She is also a co-founder of the Dallas Association of Black Women’s Attorneys (DABWA, which subsequently merged with the J.L.Turner Legal Association). From 2002-2008, she served as a member of the DeSoto, Texas City Council, with her last year serving as Mayor Pro Tem of that council.
