Stan Matsunaka is a former member of the State Senate of the U.S.state of Colorado, serving from 1995 to 2003. He served as President of the Senate for two years, in both the 2002 and 2004 congressional elections. Stan remains an active member of the Larimer County, Colorado and American Bar Associations, Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Stan has successfully tried several jury trials, trials to the court, arbitration hearings, grievance hearings, and mediation sessions. His experience focuses on litigation, estate planning, commercial and real estate issues, construction issues, and family law issues.
Known for providing unwavering dedication to his community, his constituents, and to his clients, Stan Matsunaka was strongly influenced by his father, a decorated veteran of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. It was this regiment’s motto, Stan adopted as his guiding principle: “Go for Broke.” Meaning “give everything you can to your cause’” ~ a motto he continues to follow to this day in his service to his clients.
Stan Matsunaka is a Japanese American native to Colorado, whose grandparents settled in the state in the early 20th century. He is a graduate of Colorado State University and received his law degree in 1979 at the University of San Diego Law School. Matsunaka later moved to Loveland where he volunteers work for Loveland Day Care Center, our Local Hospice, the Japanese American Citizen’s League, the Colorado Asian Bar Association, and the Loveland Sertoma. He is the assistant coach for varsity high school football and involved in many other sports, schools and community events. Stan is the father of three children: Melissa, Brian, and Kristi.
