Firm Summary
Sam received his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School in 1975. Sam practiced law in the firm of Weber Gunn, PLLC for over 40 years before leaving to start Gunn MacKenzie, PLLC.
With the creation of his new firm, Sam is able to devote more time to his primary areas of practice that he has developed over the years, which are estate planning, probate, guardianship, and elder law.
Sam is a member and past president of the Estate Planning Council of Southwest Washington. He has extensive experience in wills, trusts, guardianship, community property agreements, powers of attorney, heath care directives (living wills), estate and gift tax planning and elder law/Medicaid planning. Although Sam has handled hundreds of probates of estates since 1975, he always explores with his clients any possible options for avoiding probate to minimize the time and expense involved in settling the estate of a loved one.
Sam is involved in the community. He served as a member of the Vancouver School District Board of Directors from 1993 to 2005. He is a charter member and past president of Salmon Creek Lions Club. He’s a die-hard Seattle Mariners fan and still enjoys playing basketball (when he’s not injured). Sam and his wife, Vonda, have six children and thirteen grandchildren.
