Transition period: Although J. Russell Hughes, Jr. had been raised in the Episcopal faith, he became a born again Christian while in the Detroit area in the Baptist church. So if you are searching for a perfect person, you will have to look further. Brother Hughes is a sinner, who is saved or rescued from eternal death in the lake of fire, by accepting the death of Jesus to pay the eternal death penalty that his first sin earned him. Hughes was without any hope to escape the eternal death penalty until he learned that God the Son, became man. (His Name is Jesus) Jesus lived a sinless life. Then Jesus died on the cross to pay the eternal death penalty that Brother Hughes (and all who sin) owed. Now Hugh Hughes had a choice to make. Would he die and pay for his own sin and go to the lake of fire? Or would he receive the death of Jesus to pay his eternal death penalty? J. Russell Hughes repented from a life of sin. He received Jesus death to pay his sin penalty. Mr. Brother Hughes began to read the Word of the living God. Even as a young Christian, he read the King James Version of the Bible. He understood it, as it became alive. He was soon called to teach, He served as neighborhood Bible study teacher, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, then Sunday School Superintendent and later Christian Education Director. During this time he was discipled by Brother Arlos Moore, Brother Al Boyce and a few others who taught him how to go door to door to tell people about Jesus, go to nursing homes, and the Lord taught him the bus ministry. Hughes was used of God in bus ministries and outreach ministries for several years. He thought all would go well there after, but his wife of many years did not also surrender her life to God. So, after a marriage of many years, a bitter divorce and custody matter resulted in a temporary loss of professional focus and a voluntary suspension of 120 days from the practice, which required petitioner Hughes to file for reinstatement. He filed only after he was confident he was ready to again properly serve the public. He was reinstated to the practice of law and has been a licensed attorney since then, but not without problems or sin in his life. During this period of time out he moved up to northern Michigan where he had been born and raised. So if you are searching for a perfect person, you will have to look further. Helping rescue a youth from a life of misery is a joy. And to get paid for it, too. What a great opportunity.
