Matthew Hurst is an associate attorney in the Wills, Trusts, and Estates department. He was born and raised in Long Island, New York before moving to North Carolina to attend Wake Forest University School of Law. He works with people of both high net worth and modest means to ensure that their assets are protected from potential creditors, while greatly simplifying the estate administration process for their heirs. He has focused almost exclusively on the many nuances of trusts and estate planning since he began practicing in 2019. He has also advised Coastal Carolina University on estate and gifting-related matters as a member of the Coastal Carolina Planned Giving Advisory Council.

Matthew enjoys the candid nature of the conversations that estate planning entails. Hearing a client’s familial dynamics and concerns, and proposing a variety of solutions to tailor a bespoke estate plan is very fulfilling. “Creating the distribution scheme for your estate is a deeply personal and unique experience for every person. Matthew is passionate about film, history, and literature. “I am always reading about history, both ancient and contemporary. My love for film and literature partially stems from this, as you can learn much about a society, and people in general, by the types of entertainment they produce and enjoy.“
