Firm Summary

Keith H. Johnson has been a practicing tax attorney since June 1982. Mr. Johnson is one of the founding partners of the firm. Prior to establishing the firm in March of 1993, Mr. Johnson worked as an attorney with Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service for four and one-half years and spent the remaining years working for a local tax controversy firm in private practice. During his time with Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Johnson was cross-assigned to the three primary areas—tax litigation involving audits and United States Tax Court; general litigation involving tax collection issues, federal tax liens, etc.; and criminal tax matters involving a review of Criminal Investigation Division cases before referral to the Tax Division, National Office of Chief Counsel and the Department of Justice Criminal Tax Division. In addition to these duties, Mr. Johnson was appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney to serve as the legal representative in the United States Bankruptcy Court on behalf of the Department of Justice and Internal Revenue Service relating to tax matters.

Since January of 1987, after his tenure with Internal Revenue Service ended, Mr. Johnson has concentrated his private practice in all areas of the tax controversy field. He has handled a multitude of tax-related cases at all levels, including audit, appeals, United States Tax Court litigation, Federal District Court litigation, United States Bankruptcy Court litigation, and tax collection matters. In conjunction with his tax practice, Mr. Johnson also handles estate planning and probate matters for the firm. This includes will and trust drafting, estate and gift tax planning analysis, and probate and guardianship matters.

Prior to law school, Mr. Johnson was recruited by Internal Revenue Service and hired as a Revenue Agent assigned to the Examination Division of the IRS. While still in undergraduate school, Mr. Johnson worked as a full-time Revenue Agent assigned to audit individuals and small businesses. Mr. Johnson spent nearly a year working for Internal Revenue Service in this capacity prior to resigning to attend law school.

Mr. Johnson graduated in 1979 from Appalachian State University with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and in 1981 from Stetson University College of Law with a J.D., where he was an Associate Editor of the Stetson Law Review.

In addition to his many years of tax experience, Mr. Johnson is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Florida, and a Board-Certified Tax Attorney, which is a specialist designation awarded by The Florida Bar. Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice in the Florida State Courts, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Federal Districts of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Johnson is also a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants, and the Florida Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants.
