He even founded the Spring Lake Crew Club in 2015 and currently serves as the Director of Rowing for Spring Lake and Grand Haven high school and middle schools teams. His children also share his passion for rowing, with his son having rowed in the Men’s Novice 8 that went to the American College Championships in 2019, and his daughter playing varsity tennis for Spring Lake High School.

Paul’s education includes a B.A. magna cum laude from Alma College in 1985, a J.D. cum laude from Tulane University in 1988, and an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University in 1990. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana since 1988, Michigan since 1990, and Wisconsin since 1995.

Paul is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Estate Planning Section, Business Law Section, and Elder Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the West Michigan Estate Planning Council. He also serves his community as a member of the Governance Committee of the North Ottawa Community Health System, a Board Member of the Spring Lake Schools Foundation, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Spring Lake, and a member of various committees at the Spring Lake Country Club. Additionally, he is a member of the Pastoral Council and Finance Council of Saint Mary’s Church and a Steering Committee member of 100 Guys Who Give.
