As an attorney, one of my greatest joys is being able to tell the stories of my clients. My journey in law began after I personally experienced the frustration and disappointment of not having my own story heard during a courtroom proceeding. Years ago, I was a victim of a crime, and although charges were filed against the abuser, I felt that no one in the courtroom was truly advocating for me or telling my story to the court. This left me disenchanted with the legal process.

When I became an attorney, I made it my mission to ensure that my clients’ stories were heard and understood. I wanted the court, whether it was a judge, jury, or mediator, to see my clients as individuals, not just files in a system. Drawing from my own experiences, I understood the importance of being an advocate and the responsibility of telling my clients’ stories.

Especially in cases involving elderly individuals, where I not only tell my client’s story but also advocate for their departed loved ones’ wishes, it is crucial to bring their voices to the forefront. I believe in honoring their legacies and ensuring that their desires are respected.

In my office, I have assembled a team of carefully selected individuals who share the same dedication to being counselors and advocates for our clients. While I lead the overall strategy, my team of attorneys, paralegals, law clerks, and assistants handle the day-to-day work. We maintain constant communication through weekly meetings, discussing each client and case, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and that every team member is updated. This collaborative approach ensures that the knowledge shared by one team member is known by the entire team, providing comprehensive support for our clients.

Beyond my legal work, I have a deep love for literature. I find solace in curling up in a cozy corner with a mug of hot cocoa, losing myself in the pages of a good book. I also have a passion for travel, seeking out tropical beaches where I can relax and let the sound of the surf wash over me. Exploring different parts of the world allows me to immerse myself in diverse architecture and absorb the rich history that surrounds us. Growing up in upstate New York, I developed a fascination with the history and stories that shaped our country, a love that continues to inspire me today.

In addition to my legal pursuits, I am actively involved in serving my community. I serve on the boards of the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors Affiliate Committee and San Jose History. San Jose History aims to preserve the stories of the people and places that have played a significant role in shaping the history of California and the settlement of San Jose. Preserving and honoring these narratives is a cause close to my heart.

My journey in law began later in life. When I entered law school, I was married with three children: my youngest son in elementary school, my middle daughter in junior high, and my oldest starting high school. I graduated from law school in 2005 and began practicing law in 2006. Later, I founded Steburg Law Firm in 2010, starting with just myself and one other person who served as my assistant. Since then, we have grown into a dedicated team, working tirelessly to serve our clients’ needs. Our firm specializes in estate planning, conservatorships, trust and will administration and litigation, elder abuse litigation, as well as tax planning and litigation.

I am licensed to practice law in California and appear in every federal court in the state, as well as the United States Tax Court. As a member of the Silicon Valley Bar Association, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of legal practice in serving our community.

In my personal time, one of my favorite dining spots in San Jose is the outdoor restaurants at Santana Row. I enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and the opportunity to indulge in some people watching. As I observe passersby, I can’t help but create imaginative backstories for them in my mind. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment to my dining experience.

Additionally, I share your love for hockey, particularly cheering on the Sharks! There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a thrilling hockey game. Whether it’s the fast-paced action on the ice, the camaraderie among fans, or the thrill of seeing your team succeed, attending a hockey game is always a memorable experience.
