Growing up in Tulsa with a father that was a lawyer, Erik knew early on the profession he wanted to pursue. Graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1997, Erik attended the OU College of Law, graduating in 2000.
While in law school, Erik tended bar at O’Connell’s Irish Pub next to the OU Campus, while also working as a legal intern in the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office in the Violent Crimes Division.

After graduation, Erik and his wife Sarah Jane relocated to Miami, Oklahoma, where he opened a small law practice. Soon after arriving in town, Erik embarked on his career in public service and representation of governmental entities by accepting a position as City Attorney in Miami.
