Karissa Ayala was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She has a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, P.R. with a Major in Sociology graduating in 1994 with a magna cum laude recognition. In May 1997, Ms. Ayala obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and in 1998 was admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In 2002, Ms. Ayala obtained her LL.M. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia.
