Firm Summary
As an estate planning attorney, Lorin crafts personalized plans for each client that provide structure, security and most importantly, peace of mind. His approach to solving issues is grounded in listening closely to clients about what matters most to them and helping them develop a legal framework to protect themselves and their loved ones. As a business attorney, he applies those same skills to helping his clients navigate the issues facing family business owners.
In addition to his experience in trust and estates law, Lorin holds an advanced legal degree, an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, giving him insight into the tax implications of estate and business planning. In his estate planning and administration practice, he has worked on wills, revocable living trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, intentionally defective grantor trusts, valuation discounted entities, charitable lead and remainder trusts, and counseled clients through a wide range of trust and probate administration matters. In his business practice, he has formed entities, dealt with executive compensation, drafted purchase and sale agreements, consulted on captive insurance companies, and advised on tax structuring and business succession planning.
Lorin was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina, but spent a number of years growing up in South Florida. He received his B. A. in English from Florida Atlantic University’s Harriet Wilkes Honors College. He continued his education at The University of Alabama School of Law, receiving his J.D. with high honors and earning an LL.M. in Taxation at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He is a current member of the North Carolina and Florida Bars, an inactive member of the Oregon Bar.
Lorin enjoys spending time with his wife and two small children, playing the guitar, reading, traveling and anything outdoors.
