Prior to starting Aguirre Riley, Soraya was a partner with Holland and Hart in Reno, leading the Tax and Estate Planning group for Nevada. Before moving to Nevada in 2006, Soraya was an associate in Sullivan & Cromwell’s New York office and was a member of that firm’s Estates & Executive Compensation groups.

Soraya has been recognized four times as a Rising Star by Mountain States Super Lawyers®, 2019 and 2020 by Mountain States Super Lawyers, and recognized by Best Lawyers ® in the 25th-28th Editions of The Best Lawyers in America, with additional recognition by the publication for her work in Trusts and Estates. She became certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils in 2011. She is also certified as a legal specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization.

With a passion for health healthcare and science, Soraya has served on the University of Nevada Planned Giving Advisory Council, The Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Foundation (4 years as Board President), the Desert Research Institute (DRI) Foundation, is the current Secretary for the Triage Cancer Board of Nevada. She is also a current member of Nevada Women’s Philanthropy.
