Firm Summary
John F. Goodson, the founder of Goodson Manley Law & Legacies, was a trusted advisor to many and a highly respected practitioner in estate planning and wealth preservation, who developed his own proprietary concept of Preventative Law and multi-generational Wealth Preservation Legacy Planning. After over 50 years of serving clients, John passed away on March 5, 2015. John believed that the quality of a law firm is determined for the most part by the quality of its lawyers, and the culture of a firm matches the example of its senior and founding members.
Although John’s skill and genuine care and concern for his clients can never be duplicated, the dedicated members of GMLL will passionately adhere to John’s principles and continue to be pioneers of the industry. In addition to his active legal career, John dedicated time to mentoring young lawyers, was active in local politics, and taught classes at Arizona State University. John’s contributions to the legal profession are vast, and his legacy will be remembered for generations.
John graduated law school from the University of Arizona. He had special studies in estate and business planning at Harvard Law School, University of New York Law School, and the University Miami Law School. John not only served his clients but was active in the community. He had served on numerous boards, including Chairman of the Faculty of the College of Estate Planning Attorneys, founder of the College of Preventive Law, Director of the Greater Phoenix Financial Planning Association, and co-authored a business law textbook, Legal Aspects of Doing Business in Arizona, published by University of Arizona Press.
