Charles is a native Atlantan who grew up attending Southwest Christian Church and graduated from Woodward Academy in College Park, GA. He received a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance at Auburn University and a Doctor of Law degree from the Emory University School of Law. Charles is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation. Charles is licensed in Georgia to sell Accident, Sickness, and Health insurance and has various securities license.

Charles and his wife, Lane Neely Pyke, have two sons, Chad and Chandler, and a dog, Ellie May. He is on the board of directors at the Emmanuel School of Religion. In his free time, Charles enjoys scuba diving, horseback riding and hunting.
