A substantial portion of Mr. Bent’s practice is devoted to counseling clients on avoiding expensive and time-consuming litigation. He regularly counsels small and medium sized business owners and individuals in a wide variety of areas including: employment discrimination, severance agreements, non-compete agreements, business formation, including choosing the right business entity, drafts and negotiates employment, partnership and real estate contracts of all kind, and assists landlords with a variety of leases lease agreements for office space, warehouse space, retail space, apartment buildings and residential properties. He represents landlords in lease disputes, and files rent and possession and unlawful detainer, actions to enforce lease agreements.
Mr. Bent earned his law degree from St. Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Central State University. He is admitted to practice in Missouri, Illinois and various federal courts including the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri and U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of Illinois. He is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) and Illinois Bar.
Association. He is the former chairman of the St. Charles, Missouri Planning and Zoning Commission and served on the BAMSL committee, Minorities in the Legal Profession Committee.
