Firm Summary

I was born and raised in the Shoals. After graduating from Muscle Shoals High School, then the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I spent nearly a decade working the streets as an officer for the Tuscaloosa Police Department. While simultaneously working midnight shift patrol, I graduated as Valedictorian of the Birmingham School of Law, class of 2016, after which I moved to Florence to open my law office. Since that time I have successfully represented thousands of clients facing myriad problems and obstacles in multiple jurisdictions in Alabama and Tennessee.

I proudly serve and have served in a number of capacities, including as the President of the Lauderdale Bar Association, as a member of the Lauderdale County Indigent Defense Advisory Board, as the Lauderdale County General Conservator and Administrator, as Board Counsel for the Shoals Area Association of REALTORS, formerly as the District 1 Vice President of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and formerly as the President of the Shoals Community Theater. In January of 2021 I was ecstatic to be published, alongside the Honorable Will Motlow, Probate Judge of Lauderdale County, when a 5-page article we authored on common evidentiary and procedural challenges and issues faced by attorneys litigating cases in probate court appeared prominently in the Alabama Lawyer, our industry periodical circulated to all members of the State Bar. In November of 2021 I was appointed by the President of the Alabama Bar Association to serve as one of five members of the statewide Indigent Defense Review Panel. In June of 2022, I graduated from the National Criminal Defense College’s prestigious Trial Practice Institute, taught, at the time, at the Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. In January of 2023, I was appointed as one of two defense attorneys seated on the Lauderdale County Juvenile Treatment Court team, which appointment has been the source of some of the most fulfilling work of my career. Most recently, in April of 2024, I was honored to have graduated from the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum, which is a dynamic and highly effective program for nurturing and developing leadership skills and values among a select group of qualified, promising Alabama attorneys each year. Entry to the program is competitive, with just 20-30 participants selected each year.

My lovely wife, Leigh Anne Landis, and I are happy to call downtown Florence our home. In addition to running my office in Florence, on weekends I work as an adjunct professor of Criminal Procedure, Advanced Criminal Procedure, and Trial Advocacy at the Birmingham School of Law, where I was honored to be named Outstanding Professor by the graduating class of 2024. In my spare time I enjoy attending shows, exploring the outdoors, and spending as much time as possible in Savannah, Georgia. I am available for a meeting at my office, over a cup of coffee, or while sharing a drink. Contact me today to schedule that meeting.
