Her continued education and engagement with the field have enhanced her understanding of the issues that older people face and augments her ability to effectively provide elder care and elder law services.
A former school teacher, Sharon has a lifelong love of teaching and learning. She regularly shares her up-to-date knowledge of the fields of estate planning and elder law when asked to speak to groups throughout the Atlanta area.
In addition to her work in elder law and estate planning, Sharon has an extensive background in civil litigation, having handled cases in the State and Superior Courts in numerous counties in Georgia, as well as before the Court of Appeals of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Sharon McCoy has practiced law for over 25 years. A Florida native, she has lived in the Atlanta metropolitan area since 1985. Since 2003, she has had the fortune of practicing law with her husband, attorney Lance McCoy, at their family-owned firm in Cartersville, The McCoy Law Firm, LLC.
Sharon and Lance’s law practice reflects their belief in the true importance of family. Busy days at work are never an excuse to miss spending time with their daughter. And they always manage to find time to be involved with community and other volunteer activities. Outside of the office, they enjoy each other’s company entertaining guests, cooking together, and traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
