G. Mark Shalloway specializes in Elder Law in West Palm Beach Florida. He is among the first 135 certified Elder Law Attorneys in the nation to be certified by the National Elder Law Foundation, and is a member of the charter class of attorneys Board Certified in Elder Law by the Florida Bar. In addition, he holds an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, and is an accredited Veteran’s Administration Attorney.
Nationally, Mr. Shalloway has served as President and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He has served as chair of the NAELA Advanced Educational Institute in Colorado and proud to have received the Outstanding Achievement Award from NAELA for his work with the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys.
As a member of the Special Needs Alliance, G. Mark Shalloway also concentrates his practice on Special Needs Trusts and planning. Mr. Shalloway authors the Medicaid and Special Needs Trusts chapters of Planning for the Elderly in Florida published by LexisNexis.
In addition, Mr. Shalloway has lectured for Stetson College of Law on Special Needs Trusts and in Las Vegas at the national Absolute Litigators Conference on Special Needs Trusts. Mark is a board member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and the Stetson College of Law Elder Law Advisory Board.
At the state level, Mark has served as President of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys and Chair of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section Medicaid Committee, which provides technical assistance to the Florida Legislature on Elder Legislation.
Locally, Mark is the founding chairperson of the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee. In addition, the late Governor Lawton Chiles and Governor Jeb Bush have appointed Mark to serve as the Attorney on the state’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Council, Palm Beach District. Mark is honored to have received the 2007 Child Advocate of the Year Award from the Palm Beach County Legal Aid Society for his pro-bono work on Special Needs Trusts for Foster Care children with disabilities.
As an Educator, Mark has taught classes on behalf Stetson Law School and as a teaching delegation member to Fort Stewart and Redstone Arsenal Judge Advocate General Corps.
He is proud to have served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alzheimer’s Community Care, its Foundation and its annual Educational Conferences.
Among many Elder Advocacy organizations, Mr. Shalloway has been a member of the State and Treasure Coast chapters of the Florida State Guardianship Association and the Palm Beach County Partnership for Aging.
