James P. Koerner received his B.A. from DePauw University in 1972 and his J.D. from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law in 1975, where he was an editor and published author in The Ohio Northern University Law Review. He has over forty years of experience practicing law in Lake, Ashtabula, Geauga, and Cuyahoga counties

Mr. Koerner is admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio. He is a member of the Lake County and Ohio State Bar Associations. For more than 10 years, Mr. Koerner served as Bar Counsel for the Lake County Bar Association. He is an acting judge for the Mentor Municipal Court, and a part-time Magistrate for the Painesville Municipal Court.

He has served as president of the Lake County Bar Association; Chairman of the Lake County Bar Foundation, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Crossroads – Lake County, Ohio since 1976.
